Our laboratory studies human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). We are interested in the cellular and viral mechanisms that control viral latency and reactivation, the dependence of HCMV for host cell functions during lytic infection, and the role of the immune response in controlling viral replication. Through these investigations we will generate a fundamental understanding of the host pathogen interaction which may translate into better strategies to treat this important medical pathogen.
